Portugal has a long established and steadily growing property market for overseas buyers which year on year shows a modest but steady increase in property values of around 10-15%.

There is a good choice of property on sale and build quality of new villas and apartments is of a high standard. Established areas such as the Algarve including the resorts of Albufeira, Vilamoura and Lagos have long been popular with overseas buyers and offer good value for money. The Algarve has long been a destination for keen golfers, with a reputation for excellent courses coupled with good weather; many developments have grown up as a result. How much can I expect to pay for a property in Portugal ?

Prices range from around £50,000 for a studio apartment to a cool £1 million + for a villa in the most sought after areas. As well as the more established areas, the property market on the Silver Coast and central Portugal is starting to gain momentum. The Silver Coast has not yet had the tourism boom experienced in established areas such as the Algarve, but boasts many good beaches and unspoilt villages.

Due to this there are many very well priced properties on sale which will cost significantly less than comparable property on the southern coast.
